Amir Johnson was 30 when he was shot and killed during an encounter with police. Amir was experiencing a mental health episode because of his fiancé’s passing. According to officials, Amir advanced on the officers with a broken glass bottle. After Amir refused to drop the bottle, the officers shot him a total of 6 times. After the altercation, Amir’s family demanded to see body camera footage by the officers. Over a month has passed and the state’s Attorney General’s office has yet to provide the footage.
