Angela did not die in prison, but had to wait 8 months for a confirmation biopsy of lumps in her breast after imaging results indicated they were “highly suggestive of cancer.” She waited two more months for surgery that revealed the cancer had moved from her breast to lymph nodes, and it took another 5 months after that to see an oncologist. Due to these delays in identification and care, it was too late to start chemotherapy or radiation before she was granted compassionate release.
