CLEVELAND, Ohio – Officials released bodycam footage of the fatal shooting of a Maalik Roquemore.

A CMHA officer responded to a loud music complaint. While in route, the officer was flagged down by Maalik. According to the officer, when he attempted to exit the vehicle, he was attacked by Roquemore. The officer attempted to tase Roquemore, which didn’t work, and the police officer pulled his gun and shot Roquemore twice.

Maalik Roquemore was 32 years-old and suffering from a mental health crisis. After being dispatched to the Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, died from the two-gun wounds.

In the video, residents could be heard telling the officer that Roquemore suffered from mental-health issues. Over the years, Roquemore has faced mental-health problems, according to court documents.

The shooting marks the second time this year in which a CMHA officer shot a suspect after he was attacked. On June 2, a CMHA officer fatally shot Demond Eskridge at the Union Square High Rise on East 98th Street. Like Roquemore, Eskridge also suffered from mental-health issues.
