The Mobile County branch of the NAACP held a virtual event entitled “Our Talk: the Aftermath of Tragedy,”. Mental health was a major theme for the event since three of the five families lost a loved one who suffered from mental illness. According to the Treatment Advocacy Center “those who suffer from a mental illness are 16 times more likely to die in a police encounter than those who don’t.” More of this story here.
