Police Officer Mistreating people with disabilities

Jesse Hewitt is an Ottawa police officer who faces 10 disciplinary charges. Hewitt is charged with recording six women and photographing one man “for unauthorized purposes,” several of whom were in police custody for mental health. In addition, Hewitt distributed photographs and video recordings of people in custody with other members of the Ottawa Police Service in order to ridicule the subjects involved. Hewitt faces additional charges due to his misconduct of people with disabilities and people of color. Jesse Hewitt is also charged with excessive force. In a video, Hewitt is shown dragging a young man off an inflatable tube from the water at a beach while pressing a Taser to his neck.  His colleagues vouch for his “good” character. He is currently suspended with pay. More of this story here.
