People with disabilities are disproportionately affected by police killings. Today Governor Newsom of California signed a bill into law “that requires the California Attorney General to investigate police killings of unarmed civilians, removing the duty from local officials.” This will make police more accountable for their actions. While this is a step in the right direction, there is much more change needed with regards to police reform for people with disabilities. More of this story here.
