Tekle’s parents arrived at their 20 year-old son’s apartment building late on July 13, 2022. Two police officer surrounded their child’s home in response to Tekle having a mental health crisis. A standoff begun once police attempted to remove Tekle from his apartment. After a few hours, police snipers shot Tekle to death from a rooftop across the street.
