This year marks the tenth Disability Awareness Festival in Wanstead and it will be the first in-person event since the pandemic was declared. The festival will include activities, including games, sports, live music, arts and crafts exhibitions, and a wide selection of food and drink.
The festival aims to reach out to thousands of people to spread awareness and help break down barriers between those with disabilities and the wider public. It will take place at Christchurch Green on Wednesday, August 24 between 12pm and 5pm.
Councilor Mark Santos, cabinet member for adult social care and health, said: “We’re delighted that local people can once again attend this brilliant event in person. “The festival is a great opportunity to celebrate the lives of people with a disability in our community.”
