Walter Wallace was a 27-year old Philadelphia man with eight kids. Walter suffers from a bipolar disorder and has been struggling with mental health. It wasn’t uncommon for Walter’s family to call 911 when he was experience a mental health crisis. On October 26th, Walter’s wife called 911 asking for help for Walter who was experiencing another mental health episode. When police arrived the mother explained again that Wallace was bipolar. When the police officers confronted Wallace, he was holding a knife and refused to drop it. After Wallace refused to drop the knife, the officers fatally shot him 14 times. No attempt for de-escalation occurred from the police officers.
